Panel Discussion—Why We Serve: Native Americans in the United States Armed Forces
Currently on exhibit at the Museum of Indian Arts & Culture (MIAC), “Why We Serve: Native Americans in the United States Armed Forces," highlights the generations of Native Americans who have served in the United States military.

This panel discussion will feature stories and experiences from:
—Lt. Governor Michael Chinana (Jemez Pueblo) of the U.S. Air Force
—Dr. Laura Tohe (Diné), Professor Emerita with Distinction from Arizona State University, Navajo Nation Poet Laureate, author of "Code Talker Stories," and 2020 Academy of American Poetry Fellowship awardee
—Patricia Caté (San Felipe Pueblo), US Army, Educator and Indi-Genius Education-Independent Consultant

The program will be moderated by Dr. Matthew Martinez (Ohkay Owingeh).

“Why We Serve” commemorates the National Native American Veterans Memorial, dedicated at the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C.

The exhibition will be on loan from the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian until June 2021.
